This is a wee painting of the top of an unusual hill which is part of the Campsies, north of Glasgow. I have made a video of it so you can see it in more detail, and get an idea of the size.

I love experimenting with watercolour and gauche, never really knowing what’s going to happen as I let it dry. In this painting, I used cellophane on top of wet paint, letting it dry into all sorts of shapes, and dictating the shape of the landscape.

The weather in Scotland has been spectacular this summer and I have spent most of it out and about. Glencoe is only 1 1/2 hours away from me, and heading up into these mountains on a sunny day is the most heart warming activity I can think of in this weather. The surrounding mountains exude such a strong sense of history and at the same time remind you that nature is the one in control (the weather can change at the snap of a finger). It is such a privilege to have Glencoe so nearby.

I’ve been busy all summer doing everything but paint; so now I’m making up for it. I’ve started working on a series of wee paintings from photos I have been taking over the passed few months. All are for sale.
This is an odd painting. I’ve exhibited it all over the place, had so much interest in it, but it has never sold. However….
I sell prints and greetings cards of it over and over and over again through my shop on Etsy and galleries. I have no idea why. I thought it might be the size of the original- 61 x 51 cm (24 x 20″) – but I sell prints of it at that size.
I don’t mind, it’s hanging in my home.
