I love the variety of colours in this painting. I don’t often use bright pinks, but I think I will be from now on – they contrast beautifully with oranges and greens. I think I may have found a new favourite colour.
Skye is one of my favourite Scottish islands – there is a magic to the landscape no matter what time of the year. Every time I go there I come away wanting to paint. I was there this year; so here is the resulting wee painting.
I once saw a bank of hollyhock flowers in the wild. They were all sorts of colours, dark pink, light pink, white, red and deep purple. I am building up to painting them – I took photos – but in the meantime, here is a pale pink hollyhock plant that is currently living in my garden.
