Walk Upon Dumgoyne

Walk Upon Dumgoyne, acrylic on board

This is a wee painting of the top of an unusual hill which is part of the Campsies, north of Glasgow. I have made a video of it so you can see it in more detail, and get an idea of the size.

If you want to see it (because I can’t post video on WordPress), click here and it will take you to my Instagram account.

Field of Yarrow

Field of Yarrow, 18 x 23cm, mixed media on paper

Field of Yarrow is one of those paintings where the image was going around in my head for weeks. I was desperate to get it out onto paper, board or canvas, it didn’t matter, but a burst water tank and a good bit of flooding in my house delayed it far more than I wanted. The house is drying out as I type, and I painted this to distract myself from the horrors of dehumidifiers and wet carpets. Joy.

Field of Yarrow is is available in all my shops, Etsy, Artfinder and ArtGallery.

Summer Days

This may be familiar to some of you, and I did paint something like this a while back just much larger. I liked it so much, I wanted to see if I could do it again… Summer Days is available in all my shops, Etsy, Artfinder and ArtGallery.

Misty Morning Hills

I love experimenting with watercolour and gauche, never really knowing what’s going to happen as I let it dry. In this painting, I used cellophane on top of wet paint, letting it dry into all sorts of shapes, and dictating the shape of the landscape.

Misty Morning Hills is for sale in my shops, Etsy, Artfinder and Art Gallery.

Cottage View is for sale at my usual shops –  Etsy, Artfinder and artgallery.

After a bit of an absence, I’ve just popped this painting on my shops for sale. I will post a bit more about my latest activities over the next week or two.

You can find it on Etsy and Artfinder.

Through Purple Meadows

I have been experimenting again and ended up using gesso, indian ink, watercolour, gouache and pastel on this painting. It originally started out as wisteria. I don’t think there is a single remnant of that painting left. I’m much happier with this version.

Through Purple Meadows is for sale through all my shops Etsy, Artfinder, ArtGallery and now nuMonday.

Source Material

Sometimes I just go out for walks and wander about with my camera specifically looking for source material. I do like working out doors, but I can’t use mixed media while out there as the weather can be too unpredictable; so source photos are important to me.

Yesterday, I took quite a few photos, but one of the images works so well as a photograph that I don’t know how to begin to paint it.

Damns-at-Darnley

I know the composition is a bit meh, but I love the colours, and the way the light hits all the leaves. It will take me a while to paint it I think, but I’ll let you know how I get on.

Eventually.
