When I started painting professionally, many, many years ago, I started with acrylic. I painted murals all over the UK using it, in bedrooms, gyms, restaurants and kitchens among many other places. But about 15 years ago, I decided I had had enough of contorting myself at the top of ladders and hung up my acrylics thinking I’d never use them again.
Over the past month or so, I’ve had a hankering to use paint that will give me texture, and not wanting to use oil because of the chemicals and the smells, I dug a very large box of acrylics I had stored out of the attic and painted this. I had forgotten just how much I liked acrylics. I lay down a layer of gesso primer first letting it dry with texture and went to town with blue.
Acrylic, I’ve missed you!
